Usually, restaurant owners face customers who want to merge their orders. For example, a couple who dine in together and also want to order a takeaway or a group of friends who came separately but want to merge their orders. Fortunately, Gastro includes the ability to merge specific orders.

How to merge orders on Gastro

Merging orders on Gastro has no restrictions of type of orders. So, It doesn’t matter if it’s a dine in, a take away or delivery order. We’ll guide you step by step throughout the process. For that, we’ll first show where you merge orders, and finally we’ll see the process itself.

Where do you merge orders on Gastro?

When you are on the POS at the top of the screen, you’ll see various buttons. Just click on the “Options” button and select the “Merge order” option.

This open a popup where you can see orders ready to be merged. For this example, you have four available orders that can be merged. You therefore have the following informations about the orders :

  • The “Type” of the order : It’s a nature of the order (Dine in, take away or delivery). (1)
  • The “Code” of the order : It’s an identification number for the order. (2)
  • The “Customer” name of the order : It’s the name of the customer to whom the order is assigned. (3)
  • The “Table” of the order : It’s the table where the order is place if it’s a dine in order (4)
  • The “Total” of the order : It’s the total amount of the order. (5)

You also have a button and a search field as follows :

  • The “Refresh” button who allows you to refresh the window.
  •  The “Search order” field allows you to search an order with his code.

Now we can proceed to merge orders.

Merging orders on Gastro

As said above, you have to click on the “Merge Order” button to proceed. So, you have to select at least two orders to merge.  Once selected, you need to select the type which appear on the side.

According to your choice, two scenarios are available to you:

  • The “Dine in” selection who have a specific process.
  • The “Take Away” and the “Delivery” selection who have the same process.

The “Dine in” selection

In this case, you must set the table and the number of peoples, to whom the new merged orders are assigned. Be careful to the choice of the table and his availables seats. For this example we’ll use the “Table C” and choose “3” peoples. Each time, click on the “Finish” button to continue the process.

After, you have to set a client to assign you new merged order. Then click the “Finish” button to continue. For this case, we set the “Customer Account” as a customer.

On the next step, just click on the “Merge” button to complete the current operation.

Finally, a pop up window appears asking you to confirm your action, so just click on the “Yes” button to continue.

Then, the new order will appear with a new code and various informations.

Finally,  two options will appear when you select this new merged order. Either you can print the order by clicking the “Print” button (1) or you proceed to the payment by clicking the “Checkout” button (2).

The “Take Away” and the “Delivery” selection

These selections have a similar process. After having selected the orders to merge, select either the “Take Away” or the “Delivery” type. Now you just need to choose a customer. Finally, click the “Merge” button to complete your operation. You also have to confirm your action.

For illustration we’ll choose the “Delivery” selection and the new merged order will appear with a new code. However, no mention will appear on the table, because it’s a delivery order.

Finally,  two options will appear when you select this new merged order. Either you can print the order by clicking the “Print” button (1) or you proceed to the payment by clicking the “Checkout” (2).
